4. Lots of Speech
Poor communication can leave people with Asperger’s feeling excluded. They may struggle to understand conversations and take part in them. This doesn’t mean they will remain silent. Often, those with Asperger’s are keen on talking about their specific areas of interest, which might make it hard to get them to move on to different topics.
More unusually, those with Asperger’s will typically feel the need to externalize their thoughts. They might talk when no one is around, or they might talk without really expecting the other person in the room to respond. But they won’t understand what you’re thinking, and they won’t be able to tell how you’re feeling unless you make a point to tell them. Communication from both parties is necessary.
